The New Life
We’ve read about how King Jesus came on a rescue mission, and how he served us by giving his life as a ransom for our forgiveness… but wait there’s more!! Not only do we have forgiveness and friendship with King Jesus, but we have new life. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you.” [1Peter 1:3-4]
King Jesus died, but He didn’t stay dead, He conquered death and rose to new life. The Bible holds out that those who trust in Jesus will also have new life… eternal life. Those who trust in Jesus will be given a brand spanking new life! So even though those who follow Jesus will one day die on earth, they will actually be raised to a glorious new life.
In 1Peter 1 [see above], it says that in Jesus those who have their trust in him are born into an inheritance that can never perish spoil or fade and one that is kept in heaven. It says that this is a living hope. When friends of mine talk about hope they mean it in a pretty wishy-washy type of a way. They hope… that they will win the lottery… they hope… that they will marry a supermodel… but these are all DEAD hopes! They are random stabs in the dark, like rubbing a lamp and hoping a Genie pops out! The hope the Bible offers is certain it’s a living hope… an absolute sure thing.
Jesus offers to those who trust Him:
- >>>>forgiveness
- >>>>restored friendship
- >>>>& a new life that will last forever!
Over to you… what are you going to do? Do you want it? Or would you rather continuing to live without Jesus?
The truth is that there is nothing that we can do! We cannot earn merit with Jesus by trying to be good… the Bible simply says that we are to respond by trusting Him. TRUST… FAITH… BELIEVE…
